A 4 seater marble dining table is a popular choice for Indian apartments: enough room for a family of four, with the look of natural stone. Before you buy, it helps to know the size, how much floor space it needs, how marble compares with other tops, and when a 6 seater makes more sense. This guide answers those questions using the listed details of our own 4 seater marble dining table range.

The short answer

  • Size: our 4 seater marble dining tables are listed at 3 ft x 4 ft and 31 inches high.

  • Room: plan on roughly 9 ft x 10 ft of floor, with about 3 ft of space around the table.

  • Care: use coasters, placemats and trivets, and wipe spills quickly.

  • Go 6 seater if you often host guests and your room can take a 3 ft x 5.5 ft table.

4 seater marble dining table size

Our marble dining designs list two sizes. The 4 seater table is 3 ft wide, 4 ft long and 31 inches high. The 6 seater table is 3 ft wide and 5.5 ft long. The chairs are listed at 43 cm wide and 43 cm deep. Designs such as the Elizabeth Marble Top Dining Table, the Carved Marble Top Dining Table Set and the Premium Onyx Marble Top Dining Table are available in both 4 seater and 6 seater sizes, so check the size option on the product page before you order.

How much room space a 4 seater needs

A common rule of thumb is about 3 ft (90 cm) between the table edge and a wall or other furniture, so a chair can be pulled out and someone can still walk behind it. A simple check:

  1. Measure the dining space: note the length and width you can give to the table.

  2. Add the table and the clearance: a 3 ft x 4 ft table plus 3 ft on every side comes to roughly 9 ft x 10 ft.

  3. Check doors and walkways: allow for doors that open into the room, cabinet doors and the route to the kitchen.

  4. Save space on one side: if one side of the table sits against a wall, you can reduce the clearance on that side.

Marble vs other dining table tops

Marble gives a dining table a natural stone look, with veining that differs from piece to piece. A solid wood top is warmer to the touch and is often lighter to move. Our product pages describe marble tops as elegant, durable and stain resistant, but marble is still a natural stone that can mark if it is not looked after. If you are deciding between materials, read our marble top dining set guide and our solid wood dining table guide. For wooden 4 seaters, see our wooden 4 seater dining table sets.

Caring for a marble top: heat, stains and sealing

This is general guidance, not a technical guarantee, because every stone and finish is different:

  • Everyday cleaning: our product pages recommend a soft cloth and mild soap, and avoiding acidic cleaners.

  • Stains: wipe spills such as lemon, tea, turmeric or tomato quickly, and use coasters and placemats.

  • Heat: do not put hot pans or dishes straight on the stone; use trivets or mats.

  • Sealing: some marble tops are sealed to help resist stains. If you are not sure whether your top needs it, ask us or a stone-care professional before applying any product.

  • Chairs: wipe the chairs weekly, keep them out of direct sunlight, and protect the wood from moisture.

The base wood

Carved Marble Top Dining Table Set: a marble top on an Indian teak (Sagwan) wood base, listed in 4 seater and 6 seater sizes

A marble top is heavy, so the base matters. Our marble dining table product pages list Indian teak wood (Sagwan) with a PU polish, and 40 density foam in the chairs. Check the floor under the table too: our care notes suggest levelling uneven legs, because an uneven floor can make a table unsteady.

Round vs rectangular 4 seater

  • Rectangular: our listed 3 ft x 4 ft size fits well along a wall or in a long, narrow dining area.

  • Round: suits square corners and makes conversation easy. The Italian Marble Top Dining Table Set lists round and extendable options; for wood, see the Premium Round 4 Seater Dining Table Set.

  • Not sure? WhatsApp us a photo and the measurements of your room, and ask which shapes are available for the design you like.

Custom size

If 3 ft x 4 ft does not suit your room, ask about a custom size. On many designs you can ask for an increased or reduced size, or a different finish. Send your room measurements to WhatsApp +91-7838834141. Once the customisation is agreed, you receive a confirmation with the details.

When to choose a 6 seater instead

A 6 seater makes more sense if you have a family of five or more, often host guests, or want extra space on the table for serving. Our 6 seater marble tables are listed at 3 ft x 5.5 ft, which needs roughly 9 ft x 11.5 ft of floor with the same 3 ft clearance. See all sizes in our marble dining table range, or our dining room furniture and wooden 6 seater dining sets.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the size of a 4 seater marble dining table? Our 4 seater marble dining tables are listed at 3 ft wide, 4 ft long and 31 inches high. The 6 seater option of the same designs is listed at 3 ft x 5.5 ft. Check the size on the product page you like, because it can vary by design.

  • How much room space do I need for a 4 seater marble dining table? A common rule of thumb is about 3 ft of free space between the table edge and a wall or other furniture, so a chair can be pulled out and someone can walk behind it. For a 3 ft x 4 ft table, that works out to roughly 9 ft x 10 ft of floor. If one side sits against a wall, you can save some of that space on that side.

  • Is a marble top good for daily use in an Indian home? Many families use marble dining tables every day. Marble is a natural stone, so it can mark if acidic spills or heat are left on it. Using coasters, placemats and trivets and wiping spills quickly helps it keep looking good.

  • How should I clean and protect a marble dining table? As general guidance, wipe it with a soft cloth and mild soap, avoid acidic or harsh cleaners, and use coasters and placemats. Do not put hot pans straight on the stone. If you are unsure whether your top needs sealing, ask us or a stone-care professional.

  • What wood is used for the base of your marble dining tables? Our marble dining table product pages list Indian teak wood (Sagwan) with a PU polish, and 40 density foam in the chairs. Check the product page of the design you like for its details.

  • Should I choose a round or rectangular 4 seater dining table? A rectangular 3 ft x 4 ft table fits well against a wall or in a long room. A round table can suit a square corner and makes it easy to talk across the table. Some of our marble designs list round options, so ask us on WhatsApp which shapes are available for the design you like.

  • When should I choose a 6 seater instead of a 4 seater? Choose a 6 seater if you often have guests or a family of five or more, and your room can take a 3 ft x 5.5 ft table with space around it. If you are not sure, measure your room and send it to us on WhatsApp +91-7838834141. Custom sizes are possible on many designs.
