3+1+1 vs 3+2 sofa set at a glance


  • Seats: both give five seats. 3+1+1 is a 3 seater plus two single seaters; 3+2 is a 3 seater plus a 2 seater.

  • Wall space: a 3+2 set needs about 6 ft plus 4.5 ft of wall on our listed sizes. Single seaters can sit away from the wall.

  • Flexibility: single seaters are easy to move for guests, pujas or cleaning. A 2 seater is one heavier piece.

When a 3+2 sofa set makes sense


Choose 3+2 if your living room has two clear walls meeting at a corner. The 3 seater and 2 seater form a loose L, which keeps the middle of the room open and works well in compact flats. It also gives two people a shared seat for watching TV.


When a 3+1+1 sofa set makes sense

How to plan either layout


  1. Measure the walls and mark a 6 ft by 3 ft rectangle on the floor for the 3 seater.

  2. Add a 4.5 ft by 3 ft rectangle for a 2 seater, or two smaller squares for single seaters.

  3. Leave about 1.5 ft between the sofa and the coffee table, and a clear walkway to doors and balconies.

  4. Check the lift, stairs and door width before delivery day.
