These are general tips, not fixed rules, because every room is different:

• Walking space: many people plan around 2 ft of clear space on each side they use and at the foot of the bed.

• Width check: add your walking space to the bed's overall width, not just the listed sleeping size.

• Doors and storage: make sure the room door, wardrobe doors and any bed drawers can open fully.
